When you apply for an ETA, it lasts for five years from the issuance date or till the day your passport expires if it comes first. You will be required to refill it again for approval before your next travel.

If your travel authorization fails approval for one reason or the other, then you have little chances you will be able to get a visa that is subjected to the same legislation. But, in some cases like a more extended stay in Canada, a nationality that isn’t eligible for this system or when there is a simple error, you might want to apply for a visa and continue with your plans to visit the country.

For you to do all these, you will need to visit the Canadian Embassy or even consulate in your residence country and request a Canadian visa application. You’ll then need to complete the application form, submit it together with your documents or even the other items required for the Canadian authorities in your country.

If you haven’t received a confirmation email with an application number in 72 hours of application, you’ll need to fill out the web application again. And to do that, you’ll need to provide necessary personal details, and under the type of application, you need to select electronic travel authorization and then case-specific inquiries.

Remember to provide many details as possible on your problem. It might take several days for them to answer your inquiry. When you apply the ETA Canada at the airport, and it isn’t approved in time so that you can check-in for your flight, you’ll need to reschedule the trip.

When applying for a Canada eTA, you need to be a citizen of a country that’s exempt from needing to get a temporary resident Canadian VISA. You need to have a valid passport. You also need to have enough funds to support your stay in Canada. You also need to convince the Canadian immigration officer that you’ve got ties to your home country like a job, property, studies, or financial status that will make sure you return to your country.

ETA application form is available for fill out. You will need some few minutes for you to download the eTA document after approval. A third party may apply in place of the applicant, like a parent or guardian. You need to remember that no one, including children, can cross the border without the eTA. So, what information will you be required to fill?

When filling out the application form, you will need the following details in your possession; the country that issued your passport, the passport number, the nationality recorded on your passport, the forenames and surname as they are in your passport, the state, and city of birth, the date of birth, date of issue and the passport expiry date.

The personal information such as unique client identifier, marital status, and the employment information, including the position, city, domain, employer’s name, and the hiring date need to be provided in the application. Once you’re done with this information, you will then need to complete the contact information and other traveling information which include departure time of your flight.
